NYSCOPBA HIPAA Compliant Mobile and Web-based Applications

Project Objective: The New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA) approached Troy Web Consulting to develop a new mobile application to be available both on the Apple App Store and Android Google Play Stores.

Project Background: NYSCOPBA protects and represents over 30,000 New York State employees and retirees from the Security Services Unit. They work diligently to communicate effectively, achieve legislative gains, and promote the overall welfare of their members. A state official from NYSCOPBA reported that the organization wanted “to better connect” their members: “Could you develop a new purpose-built mobile application for us that could potentially connect with everyone?”.

The Challenge: The current NYSCOPBA website contains a lot of information that is not always easily accessible from a mobile device. Many members often look for very specific information but find themselves combing through several layers of text before finding what they need. Furthermore, as NYSCOPBA creates additional plans in order to better serve its members, the resulting application will need to be both easily scalable and integrated.

Business Impact: With over 1,500 downloads in a month since launch, NYSCOPBA active members and retirees are now able to easily find the information they need from the mobile apps. Members who have stressful and dangerous jobs now enjoy a trusted and reliable source of information right in their pockets. The mobile app has been a total game-changer. Backed by security and continuing member feedback, NYSCOPBA is thrilled with the results and is ready to plan for even more improvements.

“From the very beginning to the end product, it has been an absolute pleasure to work with the professional staff at Troy Web Consulting. I look forward to working with them as we enter into Phase 2 of our project!” — Stephanie A. Flanagan, Membership Services Specialist
