Project Objective: To redesign and develop a new Troy Victorian Stroll website for The Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce with extra functionality within a 4-day timeline using Wix.
Project Background: For more than 30 years, the Troy Victorian Stroll has been a holiday tradition that transforms the streets of historic downtown Troy into a bygone Victorian era. Set amidst the unique shops, storefronts and restaurants that Troy has to offer, the Stroll features dozens of spectacular live musical performances, dancing, storytelling, theatre and more! There's something for everyone at this unique, one-day holiday event in downtown Troy!
Information on all events are managed and displayed on the Victorian Stroll website and is where thousands of event-goers find information on all the activities for the day.
The Challenge: The announcement of The Victorian Stroll was fast approaching when The Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce team approached Troy Web Consulting to build a new website for the event. In the old website, the approval process for events was tedious and getting an event to be posted after it was approved became a manual process. Furthermore, the website needed some work with organizing the multiple events submitted by the different vendors and entertainers.
With a tight timeline ahead, Troy Web Consulting was tasked with building a more robust website capable of handling the approval process for multiple event submissions. The website was also required to be ADA compliant and have quick load times for mobile browsing.
Business Impact: The new Victorian Stroll website was completed in time for the announcement of the Victorian Stroll with even more features than expected. An animated snowfall effect was added to the desktop version of the site and a new backend was created so all approved events were tagged and added to the website immediately.
Thousands of event-goers were able to quickly find information on the dozens of events happening throughout the day and The RENSCO team was able to quickly implement changes to event details.
