As the Deputy Commissioner for Adminstration, Jones provides overall direction to the Office of Financial Administration, responsible for agency fiscal management, including budget preparation and the monitoring of accounts, and the Office of Human Resources and Administrative Planning, which oversees programs and policies relating to the employment of DCS personnel.

Prior to Jones' appointment at NYS DCS, she led YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc. in Troy, NY as Executive Director for over five years with unwavering passion, devotion, charisma, strategy and vision. Jones' most notable successes as Executive Director included increasing revenue by nearly 40%, positioning YWCA-GCR into a well-known and reputable organization throughout the Capital Region, 75% staff retention, securing a $250,000 DASNY grant to address imminent physical plant concerns, annual employee raises, successfully securing $155,000 through an anonymous matching pledge, more than tripling the Solution to End Homelessness Program (STEHP) grant annually, and increasing fundraiser revenue by 75% over four years. She brings with her nearly 20 years of human services experience, 11 of those years in leadership positions. Jones knows first-hand, the oppression and obstacles to reaching and maintaining self-sufficiency, especially as a Woman of Color. As a single, teen mother, Jones experienced homelessness, domestic violence, poverty and a plethora of judgments due to her plight. She continued to persist as a devoted mother with a purpose, passion, strong work ethic, and commitment to advancing her education and becoming a community servant.

The Resourceful Women's Awards were established in 2000, to recognize and honor women whose community and professional pursuits advance the empowerment of women, a core element of YWCA of the Greater Capital Region's mission. "We are honored and proud to recognize this year's honorees," said Starletta Smith, YWCA-GCR's Interim Executive Director. The annual event is a great chance to honor the accomplishments of inspiring women and network with business owners, community members, and elected officials. All proceeds help sustain, enhance, and expand the unique services and programs YWCA-GCR provides. In addition to our economic empowerment, homelessness prevention, food security programs and services, YWCA-GCR houses 104 women and over 50 children every day.
